Barellan Masters Games
Super 6 Series
Rules:
MCC Laws of cricket (as amended) shall apply except as follows:
1. MATCHES
Each game shall be played between two teams of six (6) players. A match consists of a maximum of 5 six ball overs bowled by each side. A team shall not be permitted to declare its innings closed.
The Masters Games 6 a side Series games consists of only one innings per team.
Each team will play a minimum of 2 matches each.
2. LENGTH OF INNINGS
The maximum time allowed for the length of an innings shall be 30 minutes.
Game B will commence at the close of the 1st innings of Game A.
3. NUMBER OF PLAYERS PER TEAM
Only 6 players are permitted to play in each game. The 6 players nominated to play in the game must be written in the score book before the commencement of the game.
A squad of players may be nominated to a play a tournament, (no maximum but recommended that 8 is an ideal squad)
4. PLAYER ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the Barellan Masters Games Super 6 Series, players must be a Minimum of 35 years of age.
5. BOWLING
Each member of the fielding team shall bowl under the following allocation, with exception of the wicketkeeper: One (1) over each.
The Wicketkeeper must be nominated before the start of the match, and under no circumstances shall the wicketkeeper be allowed to bowl. During play the wicketkeeper must wear wicket keeping gloves and must stand in a normal wicket keeping position at the instant delivery otherwise a no-ball shall be called.
A different wicket keeper may be nominated for each game but cannot be changed during the course of the game.
Underarm bowling is prohibited.
Bowler’s run-ups are limited to a maximum of 6 metres.
An over can consist of a maximum of 8 ball, except in the final over of the innings where there must be six legal balls completed.
6. EXTRAS
A Wide shall be counted as two extras to the batting team and extra ball shall be bowled. Umpires are instructed to apply a very strict and consistent interpretation in regards to this law in order to prevent negative bowling wide of the wicket.
A No-ball shall count as two extras to the batting team and an extra ball shall be bowled. Any runs scored from a No-ball(off the bat, byes, or leg byes) will be credited in addition to the extras for the No-ball.
Any ball, which after bouncing, passes the batsman above the shoulder height in his/her normal batting stance or would have passed him/her above shoulder height if it strikes the batsmans body or bat shall be called a No-ball
Any ball, which having not bounced after leaving the bowlers hand passes above waist height, or would have passed above waist height if it strikes the batsmans body shall be called a No-ball.
7. BATTING
A Batsman must retire not out upon reaching a personal score of 30 runs, but may not retire before reaching 30 runs (except for injury). The batsman may complete all his runs possible off the stroke, which takes him/her to 30 runs and the full score shall count. (eg 33 runs etc)
If one of the last pair of batsman is out before the completion of the 5 overs, the retired batsman may return to the crease in order of retirement.
If five wickets fall before 5 overs are completed the last remaining batsman shall bat on with the 5th out batsman. The last remaining batsman must always take the strike and must therefore return to the strikers end after scoring. The last remaining batsman shall be declared out if his/her partner is run out. The innings shall be completed at the fall of the 6th wicket.
If the batsman becomes ill or injured during the course of the game, a runner will be permitted, subject to the umpires approval. The runner shall be a member of the batting team and where possible will have already batted. The replacement must come from the nominated six players for that particular game.
8. BOUNDARIES
Boundary fours are to be scored as normal, if the ball passes over the boundary line on the full, six runs will be scored.
9. FIELDING RESTRICTIONS
No fielder is permitted within a 10metre radius of the batter, excluding the arc from wicketkeeper to point.
The umpire shall have the final say on all fielding restriction decisions.
In the event of an infringement, the square leg umpire shall call and signal No-ball.
If a fielder becomes injured or ill during the course of the game, a substitute fielder will be permitted, subject to the Umpires approval. The substitute fielder will not be able to bat or bowl.
10. CRICKET BALL USED.
All Cricket Balls will be supplied for the Barellan Masters Games Super 6’s Series, each team will be allocated with one ball per day. At the completion of each day all balls must be returned to the Ground manager.
The ball used in all matches will be Regulation weight of 156 grams and red in colour. Uniforms are not to conflict with the ball colour.
11. INTERRUPTED MATCHES.
Under all circumstances dealing with delays or interruptions to the innings of both teams the Competition Coordinator shall adjudicate on the length of innings, target scores, overs to be bowled by individual bowlers and fielding restrictions.
Under all circumstances, the fielding restrictions of the innings of the team batting second shall be the same as the team batting first.
The team batting second shall not bat for a greater number of overs than the first team unless the latter has been all out in less than the maximum number of overs.
12. MATCH RESULTS.
The Average Age for each team will be calculated for each. This figure will be calculated and registered on the official competition scoring sheet before the commencement of each match.
The difference between the average age for each team will be multiplied by 1.5 and added to the older teams score on the Match Scoresheet. (eg Team 1 Avg Age 42, Team 2 Avg Age 49, Difference 7 years x 1.5 runs = 10.5 added to Team 2 Scoresheet)
A game shall be won by the team having the highest completed score at the end of the game. The game concludes when the target is reached, or when the nominated number of overs is completed, or when the team batting second is completed within the nominated number of overs.
Any match or qualification complaint shall be referred to the Match Referee who will make a determination.
13. POINT SCORING SYSTEM
Each team will be rewarded both match and performance points in each of their preliminary round matches. Final places will be allocated in order of the teams position on the Points Table at the completion of the preliminary round.
Handicap system in place
Side A Average age 35 Side B Average age 45 Handicap 15 runs
Every Run 1 point eg 50 runs scored = 50 points
Wicket lost 5 points
Win 5 points
Loss 2 points
Tie 3 points
Example Side A AVG 35 Side B AVG 45

Outs 15 (3 x5) 25 (5 x5)

Therefore Winner is Side A
Points system will determine ladder order.
Top point scorers play off for GOLD.
3rd and 4th point scorers play off for BRONZE (if time allows)
14. SCORING RETURNS
The official score sheets for each game needs to be returned to the Ground Manager at the completion of each match. All score sheets and point allocations need to be fully completed, signed off by the captain of each team and forwarded to the Ground Manager.
Each team is responsible for the scoring their game, with each team completing the Scoring Return together and in consultation. Two completed score sheets must be returned to the Ground Manager for each match.
15. PLAYING ARENA-GROUND MARKINGS.
The Boundary-will be marked.
20 metre fielding circle.
10metre exclusion arc radius of the batter. No fielder is permitted within the exclusion area (excepting the arc from the wicketkeeper to point)
16. MATCH RESULT APPEAL PROCESS
Any match or qualification complaint shall be referred to the Match Referee who will make a determination.
Any subsequent appeal into the Match Referee’s determination must be referred to the Competition Referee within an hour of the completion of the match.
The Competition Referee will consult playing rules and conditions, team captains, match umpires and match referee in considering the matter. The Competition Referee’s determination will be final.
